GIF Search Functionality is Now Available on WhatsApp Beta
Posting a GIF to your WhatsApp chat will soon be a lot easier for Android users as version 2.17.6 of the WhatsApp Beta app has brought with it a GIF search functionality.
Prior to the release of WhatsApp Beta version 2.17.6, Android users were only able to send and receive GIFs as the files are stored on the device. With GIF search functionality available by default, Android WhatsApp users will no longer need to save GIFs to their phones or rely on third-party apps in order to post them on the chatroom at a later date.
Powered by either Giphy or Tenor depending on the user's region,
- Android users will be able to see a GIF option when they tap on the emoji icon.
- Tapping on the GIF icon will bring up a list of GIFs that can be used in chatrooms.
In addition to the GIF search functionality, the latest version of the WhatsApp Beta has also expanded upon the app's media sharing limit. Android users will soon be able to send up to 30 files in one go, which is a huge improvement over the pre-existing 10 file limit.
Both features will be coming to the live version of WhatsApp sometime in the near future, but if you're itching to try out these new features right now, you can always get the WhatsApp Beta here.
